A car AC regas typically costs AED 150-450 for older cars that use R134a refrigerant. Newer cars that use R1234yf usually cost more, typically AED 400-1,000, depending on the car and how much gas the system holds. Leak repairs and parts are charged separately.

Common causes are a refrigerant leak, a faulty compressor, a blocked or damaged condenser, or an electrical fault in the cooling fan or controls. If the AC cools while driving but turns warm in traffic, the condenser or cooling fan is a likely suspect. Get it diagnosed before paying for a refill.

There is no fixed legal interval, but Dubai's RTA advises making sure the AC cools properly before the hot months. A sealed system should not need regular top-ups, so if cooling fades within months of a refill, there is probably a leak. Replace the cabin filter as your manual says, sooner in dusty conditions.

Usually only for a short time. Refrigerant is not used up in normal running, so low gas normally means a leak, and the gas can escape again within weeks. Ask for a leak test before the refill and get the leak repaired first.

A straightforward AC gas refill usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Leak tracing or replacing parts such as the compressor takes longer.
